Aid Besic is a filmmaker, visual artist and a photographer located in Vienna (Austria). After graduating from electrotechnical and computer technical high school in Bihac, he moved on to solo documentary / short fiction / and the art filmmaking. With his short documentary films he had over 40 screenings around the globe.
His projects include Kafa, an (fictional) documentary aiming on modern expressionism. Kafa is a theme that unites tradition, meaninglessness, time and love. ; Logs, short fiction film about illegal tree logging; A Fist of memory, a multi-production complex held in Krushevo, Macedonia. A Fist of memory screens personal life experience of Dimitri Cavkar. The Washing; short art-fiction film based on true migration stories.
Aid’s films have been screened at leading festivals: Trieste FF, Sarajevo FF, Pravo Ljudski FF, West Herzegovina FF, Luksuz FF, Omladinski FF, DokuFest, MakeDox, etc.. He was a jury member in Doha at Ajyal Film Festival held by Doha Film Institute in Doha, Qatar. Aid was part of various film schools where he learned from professional film workers.
In addition to film, cinematography and photography he deals with an alternative visual form where he likes to experiment with various video and art styles. He is a student of Film, Theater and Media science in Vienna.
